Gempa ini dilaporkan tak berpotensi tsunami. Seperti yang dilansir Badan Meteorologi, Klimatologi dan Geofisika (BMKG), Sabtu (4/10/2014). Pusat gempa berada di koordinat 5,25 lintang selatan dan 131,57 bujur timur. Gempa terjadi pada pukul 19.07 WIB. Titik gempa diketahui berjarak 137 Km arah barat laut Tual, Maluku dengan kedalaman 80 Km.
